DescriptionCaniff didn't think words were needed here. I should probably take his cue and let the art talk for itself.I did say probably. Are you kidding...these silent dailies are so poignant and were used rarely but to great effect by Caniff. Four great Burma panels with a literal roller-coaster of emotions and facets to her character. First of all, she was a strong and independent female figure who was not to be tassled with... but also could be hurt, love and be overwhelmed. Each panel is worthy of inspection and praise and would be the stand out panel in any other daily, but here there are 4 ending with Burma fainting into Pat's waiting arms. This kind of art is what makes Caniff a grandfather of comic art and such and influence on everyone who came after him. Social/Sharing |

Down goes Crail! A truly terrific piece, Jeff. On Thursday, I was able to introduce Caniff to my Graphic Narration class. I always love those presentations. Congrats, my friend!

That's just great. If this was a comic by Bendis, this sequence would have required a two issue arc.

Such a great daily. The two inner panels full of emotion, bookended between the first panel knockout punch and the final panel fainting into Pat's arms, is just a work of art. Fantastic!
