Description

Okay, so they later turned out to be life model decoys (LMDs) created by the Chameleon, but at the time, the Saga of Peter Parker's Parents was a very real, very exciting & emotional story.

Twenty-eight years ago, before things like the Clone Saga and the Skrull Secret Invasion made us naturally suspicious of possible identity theft, I know I was ready to believe that Richard and Mary Parker were who they said they were, and that they could realistically be back in the picture.
I mean, why not? Their past (and absence from Peter's life) was always kind of blurry and unexplained.

Anyway, I drank it all up as the story unfolded, and I was very excited to grab this anniversary issue splashy page that started it all.

Lol, and I can be the distant cousin!  (Ancestry.com should reveal that we're atleast 0.000001% related somehow).

I think sometimes we place so much importance on action or battle pages that we overlook the nuances of the story behind the images.  This is a excellent example of great storytelling from a great ASM storyline!  Congrats man!

Ah yes, the coming of Peter Parker's parents in the famous "hologram cover" issue! I'm with you, Paul. The entire background involving Peter's parents was never really given any attention, so it was easy to believe at the time that Marvel had decided to say that Peter's parent were alive after all. It was a cool and intriguing cliffhanger, congrats!

I remember that issue so well. It was a cool storyline, playing on the fact that we readers knew very little about Peter's parents. A lot of story pages are as cool as the action pages, and you have one here. Congrats!

And Pete's dad does look like him, doesn't he?! I remember, when seeing this, thinking "OK, what's the REAL story behind this?" I didn't think his parents showing up was legit BUT couldn't wait to see what was gonna come after! How did this come to be? Who's behind it?! Etc, etc, etc! Worthy addition to "key Spidey moment week" - congrats!
