DescriptionOne of my favorite non-70s Iron Man issues. Superb pencils by BWS and inks by Bob Layton. As I recall, Bob said that he inked these issues in BWS's style to further enhance the pencils. The result is just plain great visuals (the story's no slouch either :) ).Social/Sharing |

Ok, you can stop now. Too much good stuff at once, I can't take it--fantastic splash from one of the great IM stories of that era...

So, the king of IRON MAN emerges to take his rightful seat on the IRON MAN Throne of CAF. Congrats on all of your amazing IRON MAN pages, Daren!

For most people, what makes this page will be the splash part which is incredibly well constructed to generate the nightmarish feeling of oppression.
For me it is the insert. NOBODY draws blood (or sweat for that matter) as realistically and elegantly as BWS.
Also of note, I find that nobody portrayed Tony’s eyes inside the mask as well as BWS did in that single issue of ever since.
I also find that the art in this issue is of better quality in its first half (third?). It is a bit more on BWS’s more illustrative side a la Red Nails whereas the latter half is looser. The fact that you own the opening sequence is exceptional.

Killer splash you've got here. BWS and Bob Layton did a stellar job on this page. It's a masterpiece!
