DescriptionI have been a big fan of DWJ for some time. This specific piece was one that I have always admired, and I would look at several times a month. I started a conversation with Josh G from CAF as his collection blows me away. He owned this piece and was gracious enough to part with it.The detail on this is absolutely incredible in person. Daniel's use of zipitone, ink and gouache bring so much depth to this piece. I love the way that the people are not aware of Spider-Man slinging above them in the rain. The street is alive, dark, wet and bustling - with Spider-Man highlighted in light and above it all. I was lucky enough to add this to my collection, and it is truly one of my favorite pieces. Thanks Josh. **So honored that this made the top 5 for best Commission in the CAF Best of 2021! This community rocks!** Social/Sharing |

Wonderful art! I can see why you were drawn to it. DWJ at his best, and considering the bar he sets, that's quite the piece!

Thanks James, I think this is one of DWJ's best Spidey pieces.

This would be a stunning piece even without Spider-Man leaping above the crowded street. Having Spidey in the picture is the cherry on top.

Thanks Michael, I agree - the city itself is its own character, and that might even be The Punisher's Battle Van on the street. :) Spidey is connected and alone all at the same time.

Whaaaaat! Congrats on prying this one away! I've been a huge fan of this one for a while - DWJ shared some colors another artist had put on the piece on twitter recently. Thought you might dig them. Check it out!

It might seem boring but my favorite thing about this piece is how 100% perfect the perspective is.

Thanks - the mood is a very big part of why I love this piece. The way that Spidey is disconnected from the hustle and bustle of the street, speaks to lonely nature of being Spider-Man. DWJ really is great with using scene to convey the emotion and mood.

Wow! What a gorgeous drawing of NYC! Love the detailed city street scene and the urban atmosphere that DWJ captured here. I love that Spider-Man is drawn as just one small element in the drawing. Because in a place as big as Manhattan, even Spider-Man is not that big a deal.

What a gorgeous piece! The detail, perspective, originality, and atmosphere are stunning. Not sure if you've seen this or not, but Benjamin Sawyer colored it on his Deviantart page:

Thank you so much for sharing this! I saw the colored piece on Twitter a long time ago, but didn't know where to find the colored version. Thanks!

Whatever you paid for this, you got a bargain. There is a Will Eisner "Contract with God" essence to the rain and the business of the streets –which seemingly depict Daredevil's stomping grounds of Hell's Kitchen instead of Spidey's Queens (which explains Frank Castle's van pulling into traffic). And the way that DWJ has chosen a focal point for detail and then worked-out in subtle less-definement to give a sense of how the human eye works gives this wonderful cityscape an almost Joseph Pennell quality.

Cant believe I didnt comment on this piece when you posted it! It's Spectacular! and Amazing! I love the contrast of the moodiness of the rainy city, and spider man flinging himself around with and obvious "YA-HOO!" mentality. Just a wonderful fucking piece!

Atmosphere is the star here and man is it ridiculous. The city is truly alive and Spidey is a humble fly on the wall even as it's big protector. Awesome commission!
