DescriptionA beautiful and romantic daily with Skeezix and Nina. Happy 20th birthday Skeezix who would be over 90 now! I am just starting to read this series from the beginning and I am looking forward to seeing how the lives of the cast of Gasoline Alley unfold. To me there is a dream like quality to this strip, almost surreal. King has captured one of those moments when you are young, in love and you don't see anyone or anything else around you except the one you are with. The third panel is my favorite by far but the whole strip flows perfectly and each panel stands alone as a masterpiece.Social/Sharing |

Such a lovely piece, Jeff. I love all of the textures in the pen work, from Nina's tweed coat, to the wonderful reflections in the dance floor. King at his best!

WOW! One of the best Gasoline Alleyt strips out there. Hatching is crazy and third panel is simply perfect. Congrats for such a cool piece!

That strip is a beauty, Jeff. And King's GASOLINE ALLEY is not just one of the very best comic strips ever, I think it's also a high point of American culture. it should be better known, even among non-comics fans.

This is just lovely, congrats. I love Gasoline Alley, by King and Moores. The panel at the diner reminds me of the classic Rockwell painting (wait, they're all classics!) of the prom date: http://tiny.cc/nnn42 Again, beautiful pick up!

I agree, it must be a homage to Rockwell. There is a dreamlike/surreal quality to this piece. King captured that moment when your young, in love and don't see anyone or anything else around you.

I doubt that Rockwell would have been influenced by this strip, not so many years later, but it is interesting to compare the two. And, of course, both are great.

I'll join the chorus. A magnificent and lovely piece. King was a true master of his form.

Most superhero collectors would find it odd that I just commented on your Adams Deadman, and now I am commenting on your Frank King Gasoline Alley, but like you I admire great comic art, and this is a great piece of comic art. Frank King, Skeezix and Nina, 1941 ... how good it must be.

I can't add much except to say that King clearly captures the way I feel about my wife.
