Description

A very rare print by Caniff, I have one copy of the uncolored and unsigned version of this. My friend J-P in France scooped this one up a few years ago and it was something I'd hope to one day own. Now it is here, where it belongs with all the other Caniff prints I have...and I have a lot. The coloring on this beautiful and the personalization in 1939 is great.

Outside of his estate collection at the Billy Ireland museum you must have the most complete collection of prints out in the wild. This one is a stand out from so early on in his career and hand colored too. All of these prints are amazing and it is so cool to see it all in one place. Maybe it's time to open your own Caniff Museum.

I've been to the Billy Ireland a few times and have looked at the prints they have.  They don't have as complete or extensie a collection as I do   They do have multiple copies of the one Big Stoop print I don't own complete(I have the legs but the rest was torn off).  They do have the original to some of the most famous prints and those are spectacular.  Eventually my print collection will likely end up with them.

Well, the Grummett and Nightwimg markets were already taken so I had to find something else to collect.

Wonderful example.  A great hobby fear is that the CFA-APA will convert me into a strip art collector one day, to be faced with an all-consuming black hole of excellent art...

The comic book printing process in all its phases is always extremely interesting, especially considering its historical evolution. In this case, since it's about the master Caniff, it becomes even more interesting, and overall, I also think that sooner or later this wonderful Caniff collection would be organized in a museum setting or something similar.
