Description

Author Gene Wolfe's acclaimed The Book of the New Sun 4 novel series (with coda The Urth of the New Sun) has won widespread praise and many accolades and is generally regarded as a masterwork of science fiction/fantasy. While the first novel was a bit too dense for my liking on first read, after a few years I picked it back up and read the entire series. I started to really enjoy the series and its various embedded mysterious. After multiple re-reads, it became my all-time favorite novel series.

In addition to the story, I've always liked the cover art by Don Maitz as well. So I was surprised to learn that this cover painting, my favorite of the series, was going to be on auction. Frankly it never even occurred to me that that I could acquire any of this art.

I'm very happy and just love this painting. Besides the subject matter, the painting is well executed, with very vibrant colors.

And it's quite a nice size too - 30X20 inches.

One of my favourite novels of all time and one which I revist every 10 years or so. I wanted to get this one as well but you had the better "stomach." Congrats!
