DescriptionThis issue is Alan Moore at his best. The first 15 or so issues of Swamp Thing show Moore taking what had become a 3rd tier title no one cared for and turning it into something epic. This is hands down my favorite handling of the Justice League. His fairytale-like deification of them just floored me at the time - and still hits me every time I read it. Only an itsy-bitsy version of the JLA on this page, but Moore's set up is great, as always. "There is a house above the world where the over-people gather"Social/Sharing |

I agree about Moore's writing!! He and Grant Morrison really "get" the god-like aspect of Justice League!!! Great page!!

I loved how Moore, Bissette and Totleben took something so familiar to me and, without destroying or even marring the edifice, made me see it in a totally different and wonderful light. This page in particular had one of those "It blew my mind" moments. Moore's line, "There is a man who moves so fast that his life is an endless gallery of statues," is one that I internalized and call up when I want to remember just how new and exciting this comic seemed to me at the time.

Classic and unforgettable. Moore sets up the atmosphere for a humdinger of a story like no other! Wonderful page - and I quite agree: his take on the old characters breathes new life into the way we perceive them.
