Description

Over the last year (after a 35 year absence) I have been sharing my appreciation of art with my son. He too, seems the most impressed with Bernie Wrightson's work...

During a recent transaction with the Wrightson's, I expressed my son's interest and inquired as to attaining an autograph for him. I believe the words were "just something simple, perhaps with a Wrightson style smiley face"...

Much to my surprise, this is what Bernie provided...

Enclosed in an envelope, my son thought this was a family card, he then opened the card, looked at me sort of funny... Looked at the card again, and the smile/look on his face was, well as they say, "Priceless".

When asked, he now wants to mat and frame this himself (with a little help from Dad)... making for a great Christmas time project...

In short, not only is Bernie Wrightson an incredible talent, but he and Liz are truly wonderful people...

Update 12/29/2012: Well, my son did the mat cut, but the measurements were not something he wanted to get into... during the course of the cut, he wasn't able to put quite the pressure necessary to pierce the mat completely, and then chose to pull the cutout apart, tearing the mat surface... Ok, I wasn't expecting a whole lot of concentration from an 11 year old, but like his Father, lesson learned...

So, I helped by putting th spider web ribbon along the cut, then had him to apply the stickers and appliques... I told him he didn't have to use the whole package, but alas... He's 11... :) I started to tell him what to do, then before a word, remembered: THIS WAS HIS... enough said...

Dad is very proud!!!

Great story, I know what you mean by priceless. My 10 year daughter is an art lover herself. Whenever she sees a great piece, or a great artist at work, she lights up as well. It's nice to be able to share these moments with our kids. Enjoy and happy collecting!!
