DescriptionPicked up this great Golden DD drawing a week back; it came with a COA signed by Golden (along with his handwriting denoting the information) and his art dealer, Renee Witterstaetter with a mention that it was the inspiration for his Wizard World Daredevil #1 variant cover, of which there was a color and black and white version.I think this drawing was a con sketch which he then decided to use as the basis for the DD 1. You can see the final printed versions in the additional images. It is undated, but the Wizard World edition was published in March of 2014. I think it's interesting to see how, even though his con sketches are detailed, they are clearly not brought to the level of his published work, which is precise and I'm guessing drawn with more professional materials, instead of the usual Sharpies he seems to mainly use on his convention style drawings. I kind of like the wobbly pipes and structures, giving the buildings a more organic feel, as opposed to the more rigid and architectural feel of the final art. Still love the published version, though! 9x12 on bristol. Social/Sharing |

Brilliant high contrast piece. The interplay of blacks and whites is pretty much perfect.

It has things going for it different than the cover. The spirit and the spontaneity is all here. This may not have the entire compliment of tools, skills, and time, but this more raw piece also isn't a redraw.

DD is a great character and this piece embodies that!
