DescriptionCaptain America is the coolest. Don't hate.I want to sincerely thank Mr. Frenz for taking the time to put so much FANTASTIC detail into this convention sketch. It's truly awesome, a little bit funny, and I am proud to own it! If you have a chance to meet him at a show, take it! His con sketches are a cut above! I've always loved his homage to Kirby and Ditko with this cover and I wanted a unique piece as tribute. Social/Sharing |

I'm glad to hear it, Lloyd. And thanks! My best friend is also my partner in crime at most conventions, but he's a Spidey fan. A lil' sibling-esque rivalry, if you will :)

It's a great piece by Frenz and I'm glad you like it so; but I can't help but notice that Frenz is wearing a Spider-Man sweater, not a Cap'n America!!! Spidey rules, that is all! ;)

Haha.....while I was standing there bugging him for 2 hours, we actually established that Spidey IS, in fact, his favorite character. He didn't appreciate my talking smack about the wall crawler, but he luckily likes Cap enough that he was willing to play ball. Sometimes good taste in the superior hero prevails! ;)

A fantastic piece buddy!! And it kinda sucks that it takes a spidey cover rip off for cap to actually get some views here on caf:). Im jealous buddy but i am happy with the wonderful piece i got from ron. You may win the "views" battle but everyone know (ron included) that spidey is in fact the coolest!! Congrats again buddy

Spidey's cool. He's Chachi to Cap's Fonz. He's Dennis Hopper to Cap's James Dean. Thanks, buddy :)

A fantastic piece buddy!! Its a shame that it takes a spidey cover rip-off to get cap any love on CAF!! And you might win the "views" battle on here but everyone knows (ron included) that spidey is the coolest. Congrats buddy! Cap is the coolest (no argument from me!) and I love this truly unique take on another classic. I bet this is the only Cap ASM 252 cover redo out there! Bravo!

When Ron was about halfway done with this as I stood there watching him, I asked if he ever checked out ComicArtFans.com and he said yes. He really likes being able to see old commissions because, unlike published art, once we take it away, he really never sees it again. This site helps to keep one-of-a-kind pieces in public view. But then he said this: "There's this one guy who says everything's "Baller" and I don't really know what that means, but I always see him and I think it's a compliment." Then I replied with: "Nice! If he comments on this, I will absolutely tell him that you predicted it." To which Ron replied: "Well, I don't want him to stop saying it. I want him to keep commenting (laugh). I like it." It was funny, man. Ron Frenz knew who you were before you even posted here, and that's awesome. I hope he's looking at this right now and smiling. Thanks for the comment, buddy!

Frenz is a true All-Star. (I've heard he's an absolute gentleman too.) One of my first comics was his ASM v Firelord two-parter. I think it was a TPB or hardcover my folks found at a garage sale. Man, I wore those pages down tracing over his Spidey and Firelord. His whole run on ASM was so much fun. Great stuff and thanks for the Baller story mate!

He really was a great guy. He went above and beyond with this sketch. I got a kick out of his "Baller" tale, too. Thanks again for commenting! :)
