DescriptionThis page for me is something I've always wanted but thought would never be given the opportunity to own due to a combination of availability and more importantly cost. Ever since meeting Bernie at a convention I've dreamed of a published page from his Swamp Thing run and 10 years later I can say that I finally achieved that dream. Although not the most significant page from the 10 issues Bernie drew, it had all the things I could ever want with what I could afford. The page features Abigail Arcane and Matt Cable who I feel are important characters to the Swampy Mythos, a newspaper reporting on the event that started this tale, and most importantly if you look under a magnifying glass you can see Swampy himself (haha i'll take the technicality, and I am now happily dubbing this my "Where's Swampy?" page). Joking aside I am more than thrilled to own any page from Bernie's run as I feel all pages, Swampy or not; highlighted the mastery of the master.Featured on CAF Update #121 Social/Sharing |

Agreed! Great Wrightson page. Killer faces and profiles and moody inks.

Classic Wrightson storytelling on this beautiful page. The "artists conception" is a sweet bonus!

Thank you. The artist concept on the bottom was the little detail that ultimately allowed myself to let go of another piece I enjoyed to obtain this.

The whole run is a masterpiece in storytelling and that fine Wrightson touch graces every page. This page sets up the story with Matt Cable in the thick of the mystery and allows us to see the story from a third person view and grounds the tale before it can delve into the fantasy. Yet, the same imagination and skill is used to bring these chracaters to life.

Every issue of BW's run on Swamp Thing was burned onto my young brain, and I remember this issue in particular, being bought as a pricey back issue and held back specially to be read on my birthday sometime in the late 1970s – don't tell me I don't know how to have a good time. I can clearly see Swampy, and how many other pages feature Swampy, Matt, Abby but also Alec and Linda? In any case you have a separate terrific "Artist's Conception" page, and the icing on the cake is your photo with Bernie Wrightson; it's not often one gets to be in the presence of greatness and have it recorded for posterity. Priceless; just like your page from "A Clockwork Horror".

Thank you for sharing your story about your birthday; I would of done something very similar and it definitely sounds like a great time! Met Bernie back in 2012 and was an experience unlike any other from my collecting escapades that I feel has not been matched since. Thanks again for sharing; really enjoyed reading. ^_^

That is an awesome achievement and great looking page. I love Bernies artwork so much, that he was one of the first artists I read from this era.

Wow! What a cool Swamp Thing page to own! You've got Matt Cable swearing to track down the Swamp Thing that killed his best friend Matt Holland (Who is in fact the Swamp Thing). It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma! And this is the page where the story takes another turn. You don't see the Swamp Thing on the page, but he's present in the minds of everyone in that office. I love pages like this that set up the story to come, that make clear the motivations that will drive the story for months to come. Even if you don't see the Swamp Thing on the page, he's in the hearts and minds of everyone you do see. Congratulations on picking up a fantastic Swamp Thing page!
