Description

I found Lee and his web comics back in the early days of Twitter. Hard-hitting strips with topics like Darth Vader and his cherry-flavored lightsaber, or Wolverine spinning in circles before curling up for a nap.

But then there's his Spider-Man. In his style, Spidey becomes this elongated, insect-like humanoid with a tiny pinhead. He looks a little inhuman, and a little silly. So when my pal Simon told me he was getting a commission from Lee, I thought it would be a great time to see his take on everyone's (OK, my) favorite newspaper editor, J. Jonah Jameson.

Lee killed it. I gave him next to no direction. Just that I wanted angry, cigar-chomping, pictures of Spider-Man-wanting JJJ. And Spidey if he was up for a two-fer. This is the thing of beauty he came up with. I can't wait to add it to my JJJ wall.

Love this piece so much! JJJ's face and the snapped pencil, the darts on the wall, the mug, and Spidey making his entrance. So pefect!

Love the butt shots flying out the folder. JJJ is about to publish them to expose Spidey's tinder profile.

This is absolute perfection from Lee. One of my fav pieces he's done, and that's a weighty title. Great commission subject!
