Description

A wonderful piece of history here. This is the original pen and marker prelim for the amazing mini-poster Tom Grummett did in Adventures of Superman #501! The beginning of Reign of the Supermen.

I've been fortunate enough to own the original art to the published mini-poster for some time now, and was offered a chance to purchase this companion piece so that the two could be united. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity and am happy to have both these pieces side-by-side now.

As a small aside, I think this is a good example of how sharing your collection can be beneficial. Had I not had the published art posted in my gallery, I may have missed out on the chance to bring these two pieces together.

Grummett was working at another level during this era! In terms of quantity and creativity, his influence on the Superman line of books was powerful.

Grummett's prelim is better than many artists' final product. Very cool that you have the prelim and the final version.

What a cool prelim to your Superboy poster art! So cool to compare the two. The prelim has all the elements the final drawing witll have, but without the finished detail. Still, you can see the idea and appreciate it. Very cool.
