DescriptionI'm the youngest of six boys--Army brats--and we spent the early half of the 70's growing up in Germany.Mom and Dad were always pretty cool about our comic book reading and many a bed-ridden sick day was brightened by Mom making a trip to the PX/newsstand to get us a few comics to read. Well one day Mom's coolness factor got kicked up to eleventy when I found her reading "Werewolf by Night" and "Tomb of Dracula". "What the hoodle-!?" I knew Dad grew up reading Golden Age comics but had never ever seen Mom show the slightest interest in them. Ever. It was years later when I put it together. In the late 60's, she was a big fan of the "Dark Shadows" TV show. It was like a gothic soap opera. Vampires. Werewolves. Well, you get the idea. We lost her to cancer back in '77 and miss her to this day. But I'll always have the cherished memory of those quiet afternoons when she would break from her knitting long enough to sit down and share in our funnybooks. Love you, Mom. This one's for you. Great page Hiroshi, but the memory of your mom is even better!

Amazing page and it sounds like it has found the best home it could.

My blood has been sucked out of my body! I'm paralyzed looking at this last issue page. Colan and Palmer just make me really sick! O.O

Beautiful page! I loved Gene & Tom's Dracula! Your mom sounded like a really cool mother! Sorry you lost her so young. I lost both my parents at age 6 myself.

Now that is a Colan Dracula page. Very touching narrative about your family and mom!

Loved the moster crossovers as they were a great twist on the standard Marvel team-ups from that era, and, yeah, that last image is just spooktacular! Ooo scary!

I can certainly relate...as we age, we experience more loss in our life. It's absolutely devastating as the pain from loss is ever present...I'll never get over it...
