DescriptionOn a twice up page art board, Bill Everett shows why he was one of the absolute greats of this industry. Even though his life had been quite turbulent on a personal level, he was still able to do beautiful work at this return to his 'signature' character "The Sub-Mariner", in the 1960's. What further sets this page apart is the sumptuous and quite lush & beautiful inks he does over his own pencils...so, so much better, than the flaccid inking Vinnie Colletta did over some of his pencils around this time. It is also astounding (and frustrating) how much stronger this artwork is over the poorly printed page in the comic. Thanks also to Blake Bell for his inspirational book 'Fire and Water Bill Everett, The Sub-Mariner, and the birth of Marvel Comics', which whet my appetite to look far more closely at the great work of this fine artist.GOING TO AUCTION (HERITAGE) #7244 Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction Open for bidding around 05/28/2021! Spectacular! Everett's inks enhanced everyone's pencils, but none more than his own. Thanks for sharing.
