An Andy Beall original, original. Wait, WHAT???

A nice gift from an even nicer human being, that I received just this past Christmas. The first time I looked at this piece, I actually felt a little guilty about not recognizing what movie this character was from. My first thought was to just fast forward through all the Pixar films to find and identify her. But then I thought about how many PIxar movies there were and quickly decided to save myself a lot of time, fess up, and just ask Andy. I was both surprised and thrilled when he told me that she was just something he made up on the spot. Pretty cool (and if she does show up in a future Pixar project, I�ll know I have the prototype). I love the flowing linework and the soft colors. And I really love how expressive she is both in her face and posture. There�s a delicate charm to the drawing that makes it instantly, and unavoidably, adorable. Really just a delightful piece all around.

Of course Andy�s generosity didn�t end there. He was also kind enough to include a personalized copy of the Snoopy pocketbook, �HOME IS ON TOP OF A DOGHOUSE.� As you can see in the Additional Images, Andy not only signed the book, but added a nice doodle of Snoopy as well. Those of you who are familiar with Andy�s career, know that Andy spent a couple of years working at The Peanuts Studios for Charles Schulz. So to have any sort of personalized Peanuts art by him is pretty darn cool.

Huge, huge, thanks to Andy for his kindness and generosity. If you know Andy, then you know that he�s as nice as they come. If you don�t know him, hopefully you get a chance to chat with him at a con or some other art meet up. Trust me, you will appreciate the experience.

Fun, playful mermaid by the amazing Andy Beall! I'm reminded a little bit of the mythological creatures from the Pastoral Symphony in Fantasia. Lovely!

Wow, Andy sure is a nice fellow! And yeah, I would have thought this was a character from some Pixar movie too! You're right, you'll have the prototype if she ever does show up. I really like her facial expression and attitude. I see a little sassy/playful villain in her, but she could easily be a strong, confident heroine. Only time will tell! Thanks for sharing, Eric.

Someone should set up an original art meetup. There should be enough collectors with varied interests and comics/art conventions/events in the bay area. This beauty has us hooked.

Yeah, someone really should. Hmm, who has that much clout here on CAF I wonder? Someone with a popular gallery and who is praised for their insightful and imaginative comments. I'm sure THAT person could get it done.

You know better than most what a cool guy Andy is. Glad he was able to make your meet up. Still trying to get him back to the house to finish going over the art. Anyway, appreciate the comment buddy.
