DescriptionGea is a comic series created by Luca Enoch and published by Sergio Bonelli Editore from 1999 to 2007.Gea is an orphaned teenage girl who, while keeping busy by attending public school, playing bass in a music band, and practicing kendo and fencing, defends the balance of planet Earth by repelling creatures from other dimensions that dangerously cross the threshold between their world and the "human" one. She is part of the "Baluardi" caste and suffers from photophobia and achromatopsia, like all those who share her mission. Her weapon is a magic sword that she hides in her bass. She is helped in her work by a black cat named Cagliostro, on whose forehead a white "star" appears in case of any dimensional intruders that recall the ones known from mythology (Orcs, Cyclopes, Centaurs, Satyrs, Indian deities, etc.). She takes orders from a mysterious coordinator that she calls her "uncle," who coordinates the activity of all the Baluardi in action. Throughout the narration, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish between "good" and "evil": it turns out that even the devils have their reasons, and that doubt creeps through the Baluardi themselves, who in some cases suspect that they are not the defenders of the Earth and the balance of the Multiverse, but rather the guardians of the privileges of a caste of dimensional travelers who fear losing power. This illustration was created for a print in a Comic Con (Expocartoon, 2000), and both black fillings and shadows were added digitally (see the final piece in the additional images). Together with Sprayliz, Gea is my favorite among the comics created by Enoch, so I'm amazed to own this nice piece. Huge thanks to Gianni! Paper size: 21 x 29.7 cm Social/Sharing |

I love Enoch's neat lines! Great image and cool characters, which somehow remind me of Jim Lee's Divine Right.
