DescriptionPurchased from Tom Horvitz at the SDCC in 1996. All of the writing in the last panel is Chris Claremont's attempt at 'cuteness'. This happened before I purchased the page. As most everyone knows, this is the collaboration between Claremont and Byrne that introduced the Sabretooth villian to the Marvel Universe. I would love to see more pages from this issue posted on CAF. Of the 18 pages from this book, I think that Sabretooth was on half of them.I had this image posted on my old Lowry Gallery through Comic-Art L from almost a decade ago. When Gary Land took the site down, I did not transition this image over to my new CAF gallery. The reason? I saw that someone from the Byrne Robotics site was copying and pasting those images from my collection onto that site without even asking me. I was frustrated at that time, but I realize now that the Byrne Robotics site is a good place to see much of Byrne's work through the ages. So, if the Byrne Robotics webmaster would like more images for his library, then you can contact me through CAF. Social/Sharing |

One of the best pages of a historic 70's classic. Cheers.

Philip, a superb page! Hey, you definitely have been holding out on us. It took 15 years to post these Bronze Age gems to CAF. Lets hope you post some more soon, very soon!

Wow Philip, few things are worth a decade long wait, but this little gem certainly is one of them. By this time, Green clearly was getting used to Byrne's pencils and, as this page shows, the tandem was starting to produce their finest work together on this series. While I agree with you that Dave Hunt did a fine job on MTU, my vote for JB's best inker is the man who shares a name with a certain Texas collegetown. Congratulations on a fantastic example from a historic issue!
