DescriptionWhat an all out battle page! Wonder Man, Iron Man, and Thor duking it out with Count Nefaria. Oh, I forgot. The Scarlet Witch. John Byrne and Pablo Marcos really did a great job of the continuing validation of Wanda's increasing presence and powers started back in Avengers 160. However, who really did this? Was it the Byrne/Marcos team, or was it.....Jim Shooter had a knack for making lesser characters in the Avengers matter. This page represents some of the better dialogue where you can read and see the internal conflicts within the team. The Scarlet Witch's sarcastic and bitter position against one of the original Avengers, the Mighty Thor, really spoke loudly to a crumbling team dynamic. While the Avengers defeated Count Nefaria for good in this issue, Shooter's storyline with this three issue arc was outstanding. Oh, I forgot. Two guys named Byrne and Marcos made this page come alive. Seriously, how often do you see one write about the comic book writing in this forum? I have to thank Kirk Dilbeck for parting with this page about eight years ago. I would have loved to acquire the page right before this one, but, alas, he will not let that one go due to the significance of Cap lending Wonder Man his shield. Social/Sharing |

All out Avengers action from perhaps the best story in Byrne’s all too brief Avengers run, CONGRATS!

Glad this is in a loving gallery. In hindsight though I should not have sold it but attempted to trade it for a page from 164 as that is still a glaring whole in my collection. Maybe you will take pity some day and return the favor. 8 )

If you had only asked for that 164 trade, then I may have made that happened......
