DescriptionBack in August I contacted Raul about commissioning a Kimono Girl. He said he wasn't currently taking commissions but would take the commission if he could work on the piece in between other projects. That was fine by me so we decided on a black and white 9x11 commission. About 4 months passed and out of the blue Raul emailed me a sketch. I was waiting in the cinema on the release day of Star Wars: The Force Awakens when I received the email. I loved the sketch he had come up with so I gave him the go ahead to ink it. Almost 3 months passed when I received another email with a picture of the completed piece. What Raul had come up with was beautiful. Raul offered to include a print since it had taken so long but I kindly passed since I knew it was going to be a while for him to do the piece when I commissioned it. I did inquire how much it would be to have him add flesh tones to the piece and he said that he would do it free of charge. He said he would like to add some color to the kimono and flowers so naturally I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. I told him to do whatever else he wanted to do to the piece knowing it would put the piece over the top. After waiting 3 weeks for the incredibly slow registered mail package to arrive from Mexico I am very pleased to finally have this beauty in hand. I knew Raul would come up with a gorgeous piece and he did not disappoint. She is absolutely gorgeous and adding the color really pulled the piece together. It took a while to get the piece but it was well worth the wait. Raul even included the creation of the piece in a youtube video. It's in Spanish but is still a joy to see all of the different techniques he used to make it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQqvLIXRiSo Size 9x12. Social/Sharing |

I agree, it's lovely, and cute as a button on top of that. :-)
