DescriptionSince I first found Tony’s work through Stuart Ng books I’ve wanted a piece by Tony. I had been tempted to send him a message on numerous occasions to inquire about commissioning a piece since he does them at the conventions he goes to. I never did but when I saw he was taking commissions in August I went ahead and messaged him to ask his rates even though I couldn’t have one done at the time because of previous priorities I had to pay off first. I told him I couldn’t commission the piece until October and he said that was fine and to just let him know when I was ready.Near the end of October I contacted him again and reminded him about commissioning a Kimono Girl. We started discussing which size to make the piece and he ended up losing his phone in the middle of the conversation. He finally contacted me again about a week into November and we decided on a piece a little larger than a4 which is about 9" x 12". Within 3 days he had sent me a pencil sketch which I of course quickly approved since what he had come up with was awesome. The following day he had the piece painted and ready to go. It doesn't go much smoother than that and what Tony came up with is fantastic just as I knew it would be. Tony has one of those recognizable styles that I simply love and I'm thrilled with what he came up with for my piece. You never know where an artist is going to take the Kimono Girl theme and that's the one thing I love about it. Each artist's interpretation is different and the possibilities are endless. I love the nautical theme that Tony did for his. She is beautiful and enchanting as though she is a siren of the sea. Her kimono is wonderful with the tentacles entwining throughout and the octopus on the sash is a wonderful touch. The background is fantastic with the waves crashing behind her and those wonderful seagulls as only Tony draws them. I couldn't be happier to finally have such an outstanding piece from this amazing artist in my collection. Size 9" x 12" Social/Sharing |
