It would be quite unique if he actually worked this way with a leg up!

I guess it would improve flexability, but could result in a charleyhouse! From all appearances, he is painting on socks. That would probably cut down on the laundry bill. A very interesting drawing.

You don't see much pen work by Gruger. This is lovely.

I was surprised to run across three ink works by Mr. Gruger, as I was used to seeing his later pencil works. I, too, love his inks.
