Description

Probably a study for a painting. Greiffenhagen produced some amazing posters and book illustrations. He had a very distinct style. From the clothing, I would think the location is the Mediterranean, possibly Greece. The prisoner may be an Englishman. The artist produced works for Haggard stories, but I don't know that this is one of them. Interesting to see how he enlarged the piece from the original layout. Notice the double artist signature on the old and new lower borders. Great historical adventure piece.
