DescriptionThe second cover from this weird, trippy 60's cross-over. Well, actually it's only some production art. I guess the original has been lost to history. I'd posted the first a few weeks ago and, again, it ~seems~ that what happened was after DC's success with their Justice League / Society team-up that a number of small press companies decided try to glom on to that success and do their own. So what we've got here is Charlton, Archie and Harvey all throwing their respective heroes into this big storyline. While the first part came out under the Harvey banner (Thrill-O-Rama #4 to be precise) this second part came out through Charlton as a part of their Premiere series. The third part came out via Archie's Mighty Crusaders.Along the left hand side you've got Charlton's the second Blue Beetle, Nightshade, Gunmaster, the Question and Peacemaker. Along the bottom's Harvey's Magicmaster, Phantom Sphinx, War Nurse, Black Cat and Jigsaw. On the right you've got Archie's Steel Sterling, the Web, the Comet, Scarlet Avenger and Jaguar. In the center piece you've got more Charlton. This time it's Captain Atom, the Prankster, Thunderbolt and Judomaster. They're fighting, ~I think~, the ID Machine. Yes, the ID Machine. Say no more ... Hmmm, production art, eh? That is banged up, but a cool find.

If I remember correctly, the third part of this trilogy appeared in Archie's "Blue Ribbon Comics Presents." Maybe I'm wrong -- it's been a long time. In any case, this is quite a feather in the cap of your collection (do collections wear caps?). I think the Fraims rivaled Dick Dillin in the Silver and Bronze Ages in their ability to draw great team stories with many characters. They started so young -- it's great that we still have them doing their thing today!

Now if someone can track down the comics ...
