DescriptionThis is a stunning full bleed cover used for the 6th issue of the Indestructible Hulk series pencilled and inked by Dale Keown. It features a dominant image of the Hulk front and center trading blows with Iron Man (in his amazing Hulkbuster armor). This is an extremly dynamic cover - it easily springs to life allowing the viewer to imagine the movements unfolding and to hear the deafening, roaring and thundering noises from this giant battle.Keown is best known for his work on his self-created Pitt series but learned how to draw enormous, hulking man-beasts by teaming up with Peter David as the creative team on Incredible Hulk. He is now back full circle, once again rendering hard hitting images of Hulk! This Hulk cover is about as good as it gets by the modern master. The art has an image area of approximately 11" x 17" and is signed by Keown at the upper right. Note this cover is Keown's version, later it was lightboxed by inker Mark Morales for the published cover - unfortunately it seems that Morales made a great number of modifications, more or less ruining much of Keown's amazing work, so it's a real pleasure to see Keown's original cover. Furthermore this cover has absolutely nothing to do with the story inside the book Indestructible Hulk #6, because Hulk does not battle Iron Man at all in the book, and Hulk does not look like shown on the cover inside the book (actually Hulk wears metal armor and battles Thor in the book). So this original art cover simply shows an impressive battle scene, Hulk vs. Hulkbuster Iron Man. Thus the art should be seen for what it is in itself - that is without any direct association to the story within the Indestructible Hulk #6 book. Should anyone think - "what is all that stuff flying off the Hulk, sweat or saliva?". But no, it is pure Hulk blood as shown on the published cover, probably also explaining the Teen+ rating! ;-) There's also a great 3D-like "pop out" effect of Iron Man's left fist - hard to see on the scan, but easy to see on the art itself. Whats more, Keown tweaked the Hulkbuster some- adding teet! It's very "Punisher" looking here! I think this might have been produced for a story that went unpublished but was too great not to use- and it's an incredible cover- congrats on owning such a beauty! Put in into a nice metallic green frame and hang it up- it'll look amazing on display!

It's behind anti-UV glass (=museum glass), all materials acid free and the frame is piano black hardwood (could have used metal, but wood did look nice and did not cost much more than metal). And it is not exposed to direct sunlight and placed in a room with close to constant temperature and low humidity ;-)
Such a hassle displaying art! :-)

Fantastic cover! Dale still delivers one of the best Hulks. And it resides in a collection of someone with one of the coolest names on CAF. Are you a Viking?

I am from Denmark and actually live close to one of the Viking Ring Fortresses (at least what's left of it, more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_ring_fortress ). I grew up not as a Viking ;-) but reading Danish translations of Marvel and DC books. Back then Hulk was among my favorite superheroes. Thus to me there is a lot of "Rosebud" (to quote Citizen Kane) in this piece. - And the details make it easy to appreciate this piece even as an adult.

Just saw the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron trailer. Seems like they copied Keowns cover to a high degree ;-) We'll see when the movie arrives... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSAyI1HBD6s

Very nice! No one does the Hulk like Keown and it's also cool to have the less common cover image of him getting cold clocked! Fun stuff. Congrats!
