DescriptionOkay, it's time to wrap up "GOBLIN WEEK." A special thanks to everyone who has followed this little journey of mine. So far we have seen green goblins, hobgoblins, a demogoblin, a goblin queen, and even a biracial female goblin. But I have saved perhaps the oddest example for last. As an offshoot of the 2018 Infinity Wars Marvel event, we got "Infinity Warps," which created new characters who were mash-ups of two regular Marvel super-heroes. As a Spidey fan, my favorite was a character named "Arachknight," which merged Spider-Man (Peter Parker) with Moon Knight. He is a very interesting character, as his mind is separated into different aspects, including 'the friendly neighborhood arachnid' (his lighter side), 'the knight' (his dark side), and 'Science Peter' (his brilliant, nerdy side that has made him ultra-wealthy). Issue #1 begins with his origin, which has a very Batman-esque feel to it. As a boy, after visiting a museum, Peter Parker and his Aunt May and Uncle Ben are walking home through the park when Peter is attacked by a furry Goblin-like creature. Peter’s aunt and uncle are killed while trying to defend their nephew. Wounded, Peter is bitten by a Spider totem god which grants him powers and shatters his mind into a number of different personalities. Wow...how do they come up with this stuff? Fifteen years later, he is now the crime-fighting vigilante known as Arachknight, with all of his different personalities taking turns during his battles (which is loads of fun). Plus, he is aided by his good friend Harry Russell. (I know, why keep Peter’s surname the same, but change Harry's? It's a mystery). As Fate would have it, Arachknight ends up running into the same Goblin creature that destroyed his childhood and haunts his every dream, and a fierce battle ensues. As he is about to deal the killing blow, Harry intervenes and saves this Goblin-By-Night, who of course turns out to be ... his father, Norman. And true to the "like father, like son" formula that we saw with the Osborns in our regular universe, in issue #2, Harry mutates into his own version of the Goblin-By-Night, complete with a Goblin-By-Night Glider. Night-Glider? Goblin-By-Glider? As my friend K Gearon wrote in a comment when I posted my Bagley USM #77 splash on Sunday night, which features Harry Osborn as the Hobgoblin: "Man, Harry can’t catch a break in any universe, eh?" So, with this awesome cover by the super talented Giuseppe Camuncoli, we get to see these two characters face off against each other. And now "GOBLIN WEEK" is officially over. Everyone be safe out there. You never know when & where a Goblin might rear it's green, ugly, furry head. Social/Sharing |

Hunh?!?! Man, that's an awful lot of detail to get straight about this title. Okay Paul, here's a conversation I'll be having with other collectors soon....
"Hey, have you guys seen that new cover Paul posted with amalgamated characters?"
"Yeah, never saw that comic before though. What the heck is it about?"
"I don't know man, it's a bit convoluted. Something about a guy whose auntie & uncle were killed by hemoglobin from bad blood transfusions when he was a kid. The kid was so distraught over their deaths that he suffered terrible nightmares & stayed indoors for 15 years, until one day when he suddenly turned into an arachnid who only comes out at night.
So one night, he goes out and crosses paths with a hooligan from one of his childhood nightmares. Apparently, this hooligan is some sort of fly-by-night operator. You know, the type of people who open up stores to sell crappy or counterfeit goods and then close up shop before any customers realize they've been duped and go back for a refund. Anyway, this arachnid kid and the fly-by-night operator get into a huge fight. The arachnid kid is apparently best friends with the actress Keri Russell, who starred in "Felicity" and "The Americans", but is now a character in this comic.
Arachnid kid, probably due to the psychological trauma suffered from his auntie & uncle's deaths, has become violent enough to kill. So just as he's about to deliver the killing blow to the fly-by -night operator for having ripped off his auntie & uncle years earlier, Keri steps in to save the fly-by-night operator and in doing so, reveals to arachnid kid that the operator is actually her father. Apparently all this happens in just the first issue alone!
I really don't recall much more than that, but supposedly in the 2nd issue Kerri Russell takes over her dad's business and SHE now becomes a fly-by-night operator, I assume dealing in that same tainted hemoglobin that her father once dealt to arachnid kid's auntie & uncle, which caused their deaths many years earlier."
Fun looking piece though. Fun way to end Goblin week, man! 😘 🥰

Okay, THAT is freakin’ hilarious! Hahaha! But now I see where I went wrong. I forgot the bit about young Peter being bitten by a Spider totem god as he lay wounded next to his dead aunt and uncle ... the bite which gave him special powers and shattered his mind into four different personalities.
Kind of an important part I left out there, one which obviously led to all the ensuing confusion, and I have made the correction in my description.
Though I can see you remembering this part of the story in the following way: “After the furry goblin creature kills Aunt May and Uncle Ben, it turns out to be Toto from the Wizard of Oz, who has become rabid from being bitten by spiders. Toto then bites Peter in four places, which somehow gives him god-like powers.”
Anyway, look, if you are still confused, give Keri Russell a call. She can explain it better than I can.

Very nice way to wrap up Goblin week - your first Camuncoli! A great face off image. I’m not familiar with the book so I thank you and Ruben for catching me up ;) I do like that Arachknight design, though! And poor Harry...he’s taken on a more hairy Jackal-ish Goblin persona this time around! And thanks for the nod, Paul! Congrats on a great week!
