DESCRIPTION

From what I was told, this artwork was used for the cover of "Iron Man : The Collected Covers" which was a comic book that was made by Marvel as an exclusive to accompany the home video DVD release of the Iron Man movie, exclusive to Borders Bookstore.

I was told the figure in the original art was then used in a "reverse" position as you can see when you compare the two images, of the original artwork and the published comic and published print. I was told that the small iron man figures and design in the background were rendered digitally.

If you compare the figures in the comic art to the published colored piece, they look line for line, the same, aside from some of the digital enhancements in the coloring process and special effects of the glowing hand (as well as removal of the shine effect on the top of his helmet).

This was signed in 2009, despite it being a 2008 release, I speculate that when it was used it wasn't yet signed, so remained with Bob Layton as a piece or original art he had not signed, then when he sold it it was autographed then dated at the time of sale.
