Description

Gray Morrow began the Orion feature for Wally Wood's WITZEND, which was published in black and white. It was later reprinted and expanded upon for HEAVY METAL, for which Gray added colour to the black and white pages and did the new work as paintings from the start. This is one of the black and white pages to which Gray added paint for colour publication. My scan of the painting is cropped since it is too large for my scanner at 15" x 20". Gray also did a recreation of this splash page as a painting with no word balloons. Purchased from Len Fausto in May 2013.

The recreation was an unpublished cover for a book or magazine version- I used to own it and it was huge
