DescriptionBagley Week, Day Three!Tonight I'm happy to share with you TWO Thunderbolts pieces from two different eras. Mark Bagley was the artist who introduced us to the Thunderbolts with issue #1 in 1997, and 19 years later, he drew this wonderful cover to another #1 issue. In fact, this 2016 cover is a homage to that very first #1 issue many years ago, with four of the original members (Atlas, Moonstone, Fixer & Mach-X) plus the Winter Soldier and the enigmatic Kobik. (Please see attached pics). I love seeing Mark Bagley brilliantly reinterpret the original teammates in this image, and Drew Hennessy's inks are outstanding. The other piece I am posting is from issue #3 of the original run, and it features the entire original team. Social/Sharing |

Very cool homage cover. I love the fact that Bagley made himself available to reinterpret his own cover from two decades earlier, as it makes for an amazing touchstone for the historical record, and it's great to see the evolution of his style!

Wow - another GREAT cover in your collection, Paul! Gadzooks! Hennessey is a GREAT inker, and really shines over Bagley's pencils - case in point, this cover. His work here really lend a three-dimensionality to my eye, and this piece feels almost like a Greg Land piece to me, with some fun lines and shading that really, effectively pop elements in the work. Couple that with the obvious affection Mr. Bagley has for these characters (and this assignment) and you end up with a really special piece! Congrats - this is super!

Nice homage to...to himself :) I had to do a double take! But a great piece of art in its own right and the image really does take me back. Congrats, man!

Bags great idea to reprise his first cover of first issue. But let me prize Hennessy for the details in the piece. Another fin addition, Paul. Wolves disguised by sheep pick!
