Description"Pippo e la fattucchiera" is a Disney comic story by Luciano Bottaro, first published on the pages of Topolino n.236 of 5 June 1960.The story is about Witch Hazel trying them all to convince Goofy of the existence of magic and witches: she makes him fly on her broom, Beelzebub, makes a threatening dragon appear in Goofy's living room, then makes him chase by a terrible monster, tries to make him talk to the Cheshire Cat, then makes his very bad car fly and then he takes him to the table of the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, without sparing him the rest of the Wonderland. Last hope seems to be to bring him to the land of witches, to have him attend a sabbath, but this doesn't work either. In fact, Goofy settles in so well that he also shows solidarity with the monsters of Witch Hazel. Back in Mouseton, Witch Hazel turns to a psychiatrist, who after listening to the problems, offers to convince Goofy of the existence of witches. In the end, however, the two will leave repeating in chorus: "Non esistono né psichiatri né streghe!" (Neither psychiatrists nor witches do exist!) A magnificent story by Bottaro that inspired so many others later with Goofy's peculiar way to see things. Which better way to celebrate the story than a piece inspired by the story illustrated by one of the very top Disney artists around? Couldn't think of a better fit than Fabio Celoni for this piece, I love his Goofy and his dark and gothic style perfectly matches the surreal tone of Bottaro's original story. And I believe the result is simply amazing, capturing many of the elements of the story and making them work in this beautiful composition. Huge thanks to Fabio! and guess what, he fully inked the piece in Lucca Comics & Games, at his stand... while it's certainly not on par with his studio pieces, it's not so far away and I believe it turned out really great!
