DescriptionI'd enjoyed putting together the "last issue spectacular" covers that Mitch did for me so much that I couldn't help but think about building out that 80's Crusaders universe.I'm an unabashed fan of Alex's Perezian abilities and I'm very happy he was interested in contributing to this series of covers. This final cover he did is based on Chuck Patton's great Justice League of America Annual #2. The originals above, the new line-up below. Fly-Girl and the Fly are the standouts above and the Fox and Nebula are below. May be the best commission Alex has done for me. And to top it all off he went and colored it as well. Did not see that one coming at all! Very, very kind of him. The Wizard here is the granddaughter of the original WWII hero. I was looking to see if I couldn't add a little diversity to the group and as I'm a big fan of diversity through legacy it made sense to bring back one of the original GAer's via a descendant. Nebula may as well be brand new as she only every appeared briefly in the 80's Blue Ribbon Comics series, #9. I asked Chris to add her to the cover to MC #26 to help set up the idea of her joining the team in this issue. And, speaking of Chris, what a great job here of going full color on these titles! This, as well as last issue, both look gosh-darned real! Thanks to Alex and Chris for making these look great! As always, I hope Crusaders fans approve :) Original size 11x17 ------- In This Issue ... After all that's happened since the attack of Ashur Khan's Legion the Crusaders finally reach their breaking point. Darkling, while surviving her exorcism last issue, is now in the hospital recuperating along with the Shield, still dealing with his injuries at the hands of Khan. CatGirl and Lancelot Strong have left and the team's ranks shrink even more when Mister Midnight is recalled to his squadron. Sensing what is happening O Vingador also decides to take his leave, returning to Brazil. At a crossroads Jaguar seeks out Bill Higgins, who had taken over the roll of the Shield again from his father last issue, and asks him to help form a new Crusaders team. Bill agrees to take up the challenge, though he returns to the version of the Shield costume he himself wore in the 60's. Jaguar seeks out Steel Sterling and the Fox to ask them to join while Comet, wanting to have a sense of continuity with the team, asks the original Wizard to join. While he turns the Comet down he does introduce him to his granddaughter, the all new Wizard! At first the Comet is skeptical but when the young Wizard is able to conjure Mister Justice himself and convince him to join the new line-up Comet has to admit he's impressed. Shield contacts Pow-Girl and the Web to see if they would like to join. The Web passes but Pow-Girl jumps at the chance to join the team. A final moment of sadness as the Comet also announces he has chosen to leave is balanced by the team being contacted by Nebula of the Agents of Atlantis. Having heard what's going on she asks to join. A final moment of tradition as the Shield recites the Crusaders' pledge - and a new Crusaders team is born! This Issue's Cover ... The original Crusaders above, Comet, the Shield, Fly-Girl, the Fly and the Black Hood, and the new Crusaders below, Pow-Girl, the new Wizard, the Shield, the Fox, Mister Justice, Nebula, Steel Sterling and Jaguar. I love this...although I could do without that 60s Comet uniform. :) Is this the first time Pow-Girl has been seen in a commission? I've toyed with the idea of Alex doing a Crusaders commission and now I know it would be ..ahem... Mighty!
