Here's what I believe is an unused prelim by Robert Abbett for one of the Ballantine editions of the Mars books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It came from the estate of Betty and Ian Ballantine.

I love Abbett's blocky brush strokes, particularly in his prelims, which this does appear to be. Colors are great as well!

Having been exposed to Burroughs through the Ballantine editions and the artwork of Robert Abbett, I have a fondness for his style. This is a beautiful example of his work. Very cool to see this.
