Description

As frustrating as this hobby can be with getting sniped at auction or getting beat to the punch on an art drop, there is also another theme that counter-balances the frustration, and that is the second chance. As a beginning collector, I found myself collecting sketches of Bane by artists who worked on early appearances of the bat-villain. One regret I have is not getting a Bane sketch from Travis Charest when he was a guest at Big Wow! Comic Fest in 2014. Charest drew the cover to Batman #489, Bane's first cover appearance since The Vengeance of Bane one-shot. I was too new to sketch collecting to know better. Lo and behold, it appears that someone else accomplished that goal for me. This sketch cover was sold once before I got my second chance to check Charest off my list.
