DescriptionStephen King’s Cycle of the Werewolf was first published in 1983 in limited edition, and broadly in 1985. Both editions were illustrated by Wrightson, with the novella broken up into monthly chapters. This sublime illustration, dated 1981 with the art measuring 12” x 18”, corresponds to the month of April’s chapter.I’ve owned several Wrightson pieces over the years, but always sold them as they were later works; still great but not prime Wrightson. This, however, is a masterpiece. Social/Sharing |

Who else could make kites in a landscape look so good? Nobody. The Franklin Booth style clouds are wonderful.

Truly outstanding! A beautiful and picturesque Wrightson piece that anyone would be proud to call their own.

Beautiful! I remember this being available on CAF and Ebay a few years back but got taken down. Glad you were able to take it down. Great piece!

I don't say this very often when writing about Wrightson's art, but, this (as you note, masterful) illustration is quite charming.

The next month has a guy getting his face ripped off by a werewolf while sitting in the front seat of his car... just to level-set this! Ha!

There’s not a man who draws this way
I admired how you concentrate
And I don't sleep, just dreaming about you
I try to reach you on the phone
But voices there say Berni’s not home
And my heart aches, thinking we’ve lost you
Cycle time, seeing your clouds before midnight
One more chance to be caught by Weres
Of your passion inside this
Love at first kite
I know that guy for illustrating
I’ve found the Wrightson for me
Love at first kite
It's hard to keep line balance
April’s past the point of no return

So awesome. Styx played at my parent's high school dance, and my buddy used to wash the lead singer's car as a teenager. You would never have known that, which makes this a weirdly awesome choice! Thanks Marcus!

I owned this piece for many years and had it hanging on my wall. Still regret letting it go, but happy it made its way to a good home!!

I owned this (and the rough for it) in the early 2000's. Nice to see it's loved!!

Exquisite illustration of clouds over a landscape. Who but Bernie Wrightson could make a cloudbank look so majestic? The sheer amount of detail here is phenomenal!
