DescriptionI hate to play favorites with art, but this might be my #1 fave in the collection right now. I'm a huge Wally Wood fan, and this (for me) has ideal elements: great characters, Wood tech, and outer space. This is also one of my favorites from childhood, which makes it even more special.Social/Sharing |

For some reason, I'm particularly drawn to Woody's art in late 60s, early 70s - his work for Warren and Marvel in particular. I love his E.C. stuff, but I think there's something just perfect about his later, more streamlined work.

Doom was a wonderful little series for those first four issues of Astonishing Tales, and every time I reread it I wonder what great further stories we might've seen had Roy Thomas not decided to be so darned "editorial," and pique Wally Wood to the point where he gave up the strip.

Superb art by Wood from one of Marvels most stupid stories ever (I just re-read it yesterday) !

Wood mixed the science fiction and Marvel villain elements to perfection.
