DescriptionThe association between Sabretooth and Wolverine is so strong that many of us find ourselves surprised that Sabretooth started off as an Iron Fist villain. Sabretooth made his first appearance in Iron Fist #14 (1977) as a "freebooter modern-day pirate" mercenary, in no other place than the Canadian Rockies west of Calgary. The issue, after all, was written and drawn by X-team creatives Claremont and Byrne, for a preview of Logan lore.Though weaker in association as rivals, Iron Fist and Sabretooth did finish their first matchup parting in bad blood. The two sparred again in Power Man and Iron Fist #66 (1980), Sabretooth's second comic book appearance. Sabretooth would make two more appearances in PM&IF #78 (1982) and PM&IF #84 (1982) but the two rivals didn’t actually square off in the interiors. It was Power Man's turn to take on the fur-collar foe. Danny Rand and Victor Creed wouldn't go mano-a-mano again until 1993's Marvel Comics Presents #135. Marvel seemed to have lost interest in Iron Fist for a good 7 years before giving him some attention in the pages of MCP. But it would be closer to a decade before we saw another Sabretooth and Iron Fist bare-knuckle brawl. This page here represents Sabretooth's first strike within the pair's third match. If anyone knows any other encounter between PM&IF #66 and MCP #135, please let me know in the comments! 11 x 17 Pencil and ink on Marvel board Inks by Jeff Albrect Social/Sharing |

It's 90's gold! Sabertooth appearances were events back then with his association with Wolverine! Hayne's action staging is cool with the short page count to use on the story and you get Iron Fist, Sabertooth, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing on one page.

Oh yeah, great page that really does take you back the interiors of Iron Fist 14! And this page...just a little cheaper :) Always like seeing pages with Mr. Creed. Congrats, John!

I love seeing original art from Marvel Comics Presents since I associate that title strongly with my favorite time to be collecting comic books. Great looking page!

I don't understand, why didn't he go back to Lumby?
