Description

Of all of Philip Jose Farmer's pastiches, or tributes to old literary characters, my favorite is "The Adventure of the Peerless Peer." This one has Tarzan (who is the peerless peer), Holmes and Watson as main characters, but also sprinkles other pulp characters in as well, including The Shadow. It's a short novel, but I think it's a lot of fun. I always loved the cover art for the 1976 Dell paperback edition, painted by Victor Gadino. Since Deb is an even bigger Holmes fan than me, we were both very pleased to pick up this painting back in 2009.
