DescriptionWeb Of Spider-Man Super Special #1 was a flip book that came out between Web Of Spider-Man #126 and #127 during the famous Clone Saga. One side of the book, which features the cover that I have posted here by Joe St. Pierre and Randy Emberlin, was a story called "The Thrill Of The Kill" that pitted the Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly) against the Lizard! The other side (with a cover by Steve Lightle) was a story from the "Planet Of The Symbiotes" ongoing event where Spider-Man, the Scarlet Spider and Venom have teamed up to stop an invasion of Earth by the symbiotes. Just love these '90s covers. Here, Ben Reilly is in his classic hoodie costume, and the Lizard's tail winds its way around and up before wrapping itself around Scarlet Spider's body. And dig the wonderful underground sewer background that was created. I especially like how the two letters from the word "KILL" are worked into the green watery sludge that is spewing from the various pipes. Social/Sharing |

You sure do have the knack for finding and securing all the kick as 90's art, especially those dedicated to Spider-Man! Nice job, man (as usual!).

He can't help he's a gecko but 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance.

An utterly sensational redesign of one of Spidey's oldest foes that now can go up against clone/not clone Ben Reilly! Will he remember enough from those early encounters or has the upgraded 90's Lizard power levels prove too great? They dragged the main clone saga on for years, but these one offs were quick hits that actually had fun with the new toys and Joe St. Pierre creates a very 90's presentation where the main players and Scarlet Spider dominate the space with sewer bricks and logos surround them to add to the claustrophobic feel.

Great cover - Scarlet Spider is just such a great character and the Lizard is icing on the cake.

Sssspiderss isss mine! More sweet Spidey 90s goodness. And I've always liked the hooded Spider-costume. And I love the detailed sewer scene, with the clever slimy lettering. Great score. Congrats!

That was a REALLY nice comment, Dave! I'm so jazzed to hear that you love seeing my name pop up on your watchlist. My favorite thing about this hobby is how we get to share our art with the community, and I always love your comments. And I don't have to tell you that you have the very best Hulk collection out there. Keep up the great collecting!

Pure '90s, baby! Like the alternate versions of the characters here, with Ben, and a different looking Lizard. Love that about the latter - artists can really take some liberties with their own unique spins, but you KNOW it's the Lizard when you see him! Nice detail and inks throughout, and you gotta love the lettering drawn right into the image at the bottom - we don't see enough of that these days. Congrats!
