DescriptionOriginal art for Smilin' Jack by Zack Mosley, for the June 18, 1936 daily strip. This is one of the earliest strips in the entire series. How do I know for sure? Mosley wrote a note at the top on the 50th Anniversary in 1986, which is actually over 30 years ago now! A life-long flying enthusiast, Mosley always put his knowledge of aeronautics into the strip, and kept things accurate and current. The piece has been signed by Zack Mosley in the last panel in addition to his note at the top. As one of the foremost aviation-based American adventure comic strips, Smilin Jack is well-remembered to this day. So it is rare to find one of the very first strips from a well-known and long-running Golden Age newspaper comic title which lasted many decades in print.Social/Sharing |
