DescriptionI was lucky to score this page from the memorable and popular Avengers #75-#76 story. Between the very first appearance of Arkon, his kidnapping of the Scarlet Witch and their ensuing short-lived "romance," the guest starring of Cap/Thor/Iron Man and the great battle pages, these issues had a lot going for them. This representative page in particular not only serves the story well but also showcases Buscema's talent as it sequences from the intimate close-ups of the Scarlet Witch and Arkon to going wider for the transition to the call of battle to even wider to the beginnings of all out action with that killer "Avengers Assemble" bottom panel (not to mention great dialogue by Roy Thomas and the usual skillful inking by Tom Palmer). PS: To be clear, the top three Arkon/SW panels were as much an exemplar for me as the cool bottom panel and made the page that much more desirable and a “must have” page. Social/Sharing |

That's a great one Daren, congrats. While the last panel is obviously killer, the third panel always draws my eye. Buscema and Palmer were untouchable for these first three issues together.

Besides that bottom panel, I love the close up of Scarlet Witch's eyes. Another wonderful piece resides in your stellar collection Daren!!!!

Yes, Buscema/Palmer magic from top to bottom. But that last panel is just ridiculous! Wow!

Agreed the whole page is a great example of perfect sequential storytelling, with good super hero action AND some great Marvel soap. Excellent catch!
