Description

This was new art commissioned by Marvel for the cover of the Iron Man Omnibus 2013 edition collecting the popular Michelinie/Romita, Jr./Layton years of Iron Man. It was a chance for JR JR to draw the classic armor again and in something closer to his old style than his later style. I like the uncluttered full-figure image and overall clean lines.

I had asked JR JR and his agent many years ago about this cover and they said that JR JR still had it but they weren't sure where. They looked and unfortunately couldn't find it. Over time I stopped asking and moved on. And then I saw this pop up on a recent auction and was very happy to go for it.

Glad you were finally able to bring this one home. Unfortunately, I have too many stories of artists who can't find pieces I've asked about (or tell me it's not for sale), only to see it later either up for sale/auction, or in someone else's collection. Great JR Jr. Iron Man cover. Congrats!

Just a great iconic piece! Clean inks by Morales on both figure and background impresses when seen up close or far away. Stan Lee's perfect placement of the signature is a big boost to this Iron Man!

What a classic Iron Man cover! Love John Romita Jr.'s drawing--There's so much power and energy in it. Add in the splendid inks by Mark Morales and I'd have to say they really put this one out the park!
