Description

Food is great in Tokyo! It is a well known fact that Tokyo has more Michelin starred restaurants than any other city but even the small restaurants had great food. The Sushi was good and best at the Tsukiji Fish Market. The Sushi dish I had there had 4 different ways to serve Tuna which is their specialty. In addition, I ate fresh sea urchin cut and cleaned at a small stall in the market. I am not sure I have had decent ramen noodles. Now that I have had the best, I don't think i'll be able to discover them at home. Waygu Kobe beef has redefined what steak is for me. I went to a nice, upscale restaurant with a tasting menu and they served the beef in 5 ways. It was fantastic!

Even 7-Eleven had ongiri rice cakes that were pretty good and a handy snack. There is a 7-Eleven on just about every other corner in busy areas. Even subway and JR rail stations had many food options. Everything was good.

I was just there with Rob 2 hours ago. After Tokyo, it is like having salty water and refrozen fish. It will take me months before I can once again enjoy Japanese food that is not in Japan.
