Batman vs. Grendel! I love it! Of course I loved everything about the mini as this was one crossover/confrontation that did not disappoint. Grendel is a given, but, more than just about anybody else, Matt Wagner "gets" Batman. His Batman is the All-Star Batman. It's too bad DC couldn't figure that out.

I suppose/hope that, everywhere they may be, the pages from Batman/Grendel are being carefully preserved by the owner, as I honestly believe that this was Wagner's best work. Crossovers usually takes out the "worst" of comics: this mini took out the best from the characters and from the author. Everybody who read this story will remeber it fondly. Great page.
