DescriptionCrisis on Infinite Earths #1 The Summoning Page 8 with Overlay Original by George Perez and Dick Giordano!Crisis on Infinite Earths by George, Marv, Dick, Mike and Jerry is my all time favorite series. I've only ever traded one page as an overall trade to get the Gil Kane Green Lantern #29 Cover with The Black Hand that I have. I have never sold one otherwise in my entire life. But, a friend needed a page to do a deal to get a page from someone else he desperately wanted, and it was a grail to him, so I had to make the tough decision of helping him or not as there are no Crisis pages out there. And the hardest part, the day I was sending to my friend to do his trade, I found out that George was dying. And George announcing that he was going to accept this, and not go through painful treatment to spend quality time with Carol and friends, well, my father had died from Pancreatic cancer and did the same. My dad told the hospital that he wanted to go home to die at home. And then this page has UltraMan saying "I'm going to do what I always do, fight to the end." AND this is the pivotal page where Lex Luthor and Lois of Earth 3 send their child through the dimensions to a parallel universe to live and help save the universes, which doubly made me think of George and my dad going out on their terms. I can't say that the temptation wasn't there to tell my friend that I couldn't sell it to him to do his trade, but man, that would have been a jerk thing to do. I had this page for 6 years and love it, but I had made a commitment, and the only thing to do was to honor it. A few months later, Canada Jones had this for sale. He had a price, and it was well above what I had helped my friend by selling to him. I let Canada know the story, and asked if he could work with me on price. Canada, being the stand up person that he is, agreed, and we came to a price that was higher than I sold it back last year, I still found it worth it. So happy that this is coming home to me. Thank you Canada, really appreciate your working with me on this. This means the world to me as it will always remind me of George and my father fighting to the end, and going out their way. always loved this page for the same reason. That panel with Ultraman saying that he always fights to the end then flying straight to his death into the anti-matter wave was always a gut punch for me. loved the personal story also about your father. I lost my father(and my sister last year) three years ago to this horrible cancer and his last wish was he wanted to come home and be surrounded by his family when his time came. He got his wish and I am grateful we were ther for him at the end.

Seriously good page with the content of wanting to go out on your own terms in the face of the inevitable. A very high emotional point to set the tone of this series that shows they meant business and this was high stakes.

There are no bad pages in the serie but this one is particularly emotionally moving on its own. Even more so in Georges' and your personal context. Congrats :)

When reading Crisis when it was originally released this was the moment when blood rushed to your head and you felt dizzy for the first time and you were stunned because you understood the sheer magnitude of what was going to happen in this series and with the DC Universe even though it had been broadcasted in advertising for months. It was so intentional that Perez drew Ultraman looking so much like our Earth-1 Superman and this was his most noble moment! And it didn't matter. Ulttraman, the Earth-3 Superman, was consumed and perished in a blip of catastophic chaos like he was nothing. If Superman's power meant nothing how could our heroes save their earths??? DC comics fans could no longer deny that things would never be the same again. One of many moments of Crisis that true fans would never forget! Congrats on adding this to the many others in your amazing collection and thanks for sharing it with us!

So heart felt and know how difficult cancer is with loved ones. I've lost so many and pray every day. You did the honorable thing and am happy you have this special page back in your collection. Life is short and we all need to look out for one another.
