DescriptionSOLD AT AUCTION FOR $2,362!16.5x23.25" artboard w/mixed media original art for "The Walking Dead" poster commissioned by AMC in 2012 for the beginning of Season 3. Art was created by painter John Watkiss (1961-2017), whose work has included fine art, storyboards as well as work for Dark Horse Comics, Marvel and DC Comics. Watkiss also worked for Disney as a film development artist on 1999's "Tarzan" animated feature film, also working on "The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis" and "Treasure Planet." He went on to provide concept art for "Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow" and Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" film. Watkiss then went on to provide post production concept art for AMC's popular zombie TV series "The Walking Dead." Art features fan-favorite Michonne leading her two zombie "pets" on chains. Michonne holds her sword in one hand, raising the severed head of a zombie in the other. Several defeated zombies lay at her feet. Of note, the reflection in her sword reveals more zombies in her path. Watkiss has signed and dated art along upper right. Art is NM and comes double-matted to 20.5x27.5". Ready for framing to make for a wonderful display. A must for fans of "The Walking Dead." Social/Sharing |
