Description

This is the original art used for the Jon Sable Freelance retailer poster, promoting Mike Grell's exciting new series back in 1983. At the time, Joe Staton was First Comics' art director. He used a panel from the interior pages of JSF #1 for character reference, hence the notation "After Grell". He signed and dated it the year it was auctioned (2001). One of my first (no pun intended ;) art buys and still one of my favorites!

I remember seeing this and remember Joe Staton did the artwork but i couldn't remember who had the original! I should have known! Great piece!

The retailer posters from this era are some of my all-time favorites. Didn't know it was Staton who drew this. Regardless, fantastic!

Congratulations on a terrific piece from my prime comic book reading period! First Comics published some true gems back in the 1980's and gave Marvel a real run for my comic book budget at the time! I am glad this wonderful piece found its home in your fantastic collection!

Awesome! I remember that poster in my LCS and how much I enjoyed Grell's Sable. Looking forward to receiving the Kickstarter hardcovers so I can start re-reading the series! Brings back great memories!
