Description

Classic mid-1940's Girl Commandos splash by the great Jill Elgin. As you can probably see in the scan, the page does have water staining on it, but still displays well despite the staining. Great large size artwork, which measures approximately 14 1/2" by 23".

"The thrilling exploits of the fascist-smashing Girl Commandos in the past, cannot match the peculiar excitement of this amazing, new, stark adventure... in which the Fearless Four... face gruesome deaths as they battle barbarians of the past and the SAVAGE IN ARMOR!"

I mean... that's how every story blurb and intro should be written! If you want to get kids to fork over a dime, write THAT. I miss the Golden Age.
(I'm not old enough to remember the Golden Age)
Fortunately, we might be about to have another sorta World War, so it'll be like the 1940's all over again. (I couldn't have just stopped at it being a great page and left it at that?)

I love Jill's art and this is a great example, I never did like full splash pages but these 2/3 with panels just seems to make the page pop a lot better.
