Description

Astro City has been a favorite of mine pretty much since the beginning. To finally add a piece of art from the series to the collection is a wonderful feeling! Especially since this page is from one of the best stories in the series: Confession.

In this page, Altar Boy confronts his mentor, the Confessor, about his secrets. Confessor turns on him and tells him that answers must be earned before disappearing into the night.

Pencils and inks on 11 x 17 board by Brent Anderson.

congrats on adding a page from a long sought after series! the artwork is fantastic, the deep inking is really nice

Mioght be the best long form story of volume 2. A tribute to the Neal Adams GL/GA and Kree-Skrull era! Brent Anderson was very influenced by Adams as evidenced by the nuanced facial expressions we see here.

100% agree on the Adams influence. I also find it interesting that this six-issue story had not only heroes fighting the government over super powered registration but also an attempted invasion by a bunch of shape changing aliens. All of this several years before Marvel's much larger Civil War and Secret Invasion events.

Govt registration was already a thing in 70's Avengers with Gyrich and DC with Watchmen. Aliens in govt was Kree Skrull war Avengers 93-97.

I'm not saying that the ideas were original. I just found the contrast between two line wide events and a much smaller story that used both concepts simultaneously as subplots was interesting.
