Descriptionsandman 23, chapter 2 of Seasons of the Mists, page 9I don't write descriptions often, but when I do, I write them about sandman art. So, I have been a sandman fan since the beginning. Day one. At the comic store in Edmonton, Alberta I worked at as a 15 year old, I made a window display with a paper maché helm and mannequin in a huge flowing cape and reproduced (on a color copier and taped together) a 10' reproduction of the cover to issue 4. As a graphic design student I devoured every cover and image dave mckean produced. As a RGD designer/art director I am still constantly inspired by McKean's explorations and by gaiman's stories. I have passed up buying a pile of sandman art over the years. A tragically huge pile... but i never got the opportunity to buy any of the jones issues. A few years ago when I had the chance, I jumped at the opportunity to get one, then another, and now to get one of the best pages of the seasons of the mists story arc. Thank you to to my collector friend for the chance to trade/upgrade to this page. Still looking for more sandman. hit me up if you have one to sell/trade. Social/Sharing |

Insanely good! Highly acclaimed masterpiece that altered the comics medium with work like this. Gaiman, Jones and the late Jones III had such synergy on this story arc.

While I love the Sandman stories, I have never had the desire to own Sandman art -but this one is making me think twice! Love the expressions and the detailing by Jones. The older I get, the more I have come to appreciate his style and technique. I think one thing that helps is that seeing the art in black and white is striking -compared to the awful coloring of some of the early sandman comics. Amazing pick up Brett!

The "Morpheus is speechless" sequence is one of the most memorable moments of the original series.

Classic storyline! Back in my college days I actually made a key to hell out of sculpey. baked it, painted it. The damn thing was heavy (literally and figuratively). Congrats on a great page and awesome that you were inspired to make props (and full on displays) too! 😆
